Newport
This vast territory skirts the Baie des Chaleurs for approximately 11 km and is seeked out by photographers for its exceptional panorama and distant view. Because of its many sandy beaches, lakes and rivers, Newport is perfect for salt and fresh water fishing. It is also home to a fishing wharf with a depth of over 15 feet. Newport celebrated its 150 th anniversary in 2005. Its residents are particularly proud of their location, and often contribute to the well-being of their community through volunteer work. Many non-profit organizations also help develop this district.
